Elevate your plant-based meals with our Crunchy Garlic Tofu—a simple yet flavorful dish that’s irresistibly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Coated in arrowroot powder and air-fried to perfection, each tofu cube is enveloped in a savory garlic sauce made from tamari, amino acids, and a touch of date syrup for natural sweetness. Whether served over rice, tossed in a salad, or enjoyed on its own, this dish is a delicious way to savor the bold flavors of wholesome, plant-based ingredients.
Ingredients
12.34 oz Extra Firm Tofu (cubed)
½ - ¾ cup Arrowroot Powder
1 Scallion (chopped for garnish)
1 tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
For the sauce:
2 cloves garlic minced
1 tbsp Tamari
1 tbsp Amino Acids
1 tbsp Date Syrup
1 tsp Rice Vinegar
½ tbsp Arrowroot Powder
½ cup Filtered Water
Directions
Dice tofu into 1/2 inch cubes
Place arrowroot powder on a plate and generously coat tofu on all sides.
Once tofu is coated, place in air fryer for at 390° for 15 minutes. Flip tofu pieces and air fry for an additional 15 minutes or until crispy.
In a bowl combine sauce ingredients.
In a hot non-stick pan set over low heat, pour in sauce and stir often until the sauce begins to thicken. Once thickened, remove from heat.Place finished tofu into a mixing bowl and cover with sauce. Gently fold tofu and sauce until tofu is evenly coated.
Serve over rice, salad, or just as it is.
Garnish with chopped scallion and sesame seeds.
NOTES:
You don’t have to use an air fryer. You could bake in an oven at 350° for 15 minutes. Flip and continue baking an additional 15 minutes or until desired crispiness.
Soy sauce, Tamari, Liquid Aminos, and Coconut Aminos can all be used alone or in any combination to reduce the sodium level of the sauce. You can also dilute whichever you choose with some water to make the sauce less salty tasty and lower in sodium.
